Fauna surveys
Friends of the Waite Conservation Reserve participated in the Great Australian Marsupial Night Stalk National Science Week 2001. On this evening, only ring-tail and brush-tail possums and a feral cat were spotted, but participants enjoyed the magnificent views of the city's sparkling lights. Another night walk was held for Friends in 2006. Many ring-tail possums with young were spotted, as well as a barking gecko and spiders out hunting. More mammal surveys are planned and the Manager would like to hear from anyone interested in participating. An extensive 10 day survey of mammals, reptiles and birds was conducted in November 2008. The final analysis of the results will be posted on this website in 2009.
