Sunday 6 May - 2.00pm - 3.15pm
Guided History Tour of Urrbrae House
Join a guided tour of one of the most significant private houses in South Australia that today is part of the University of Adelaide. Completed in 1891, Urrbrae House was the first house in the state to be lit by electricity.Due to the heritage nature of the house, wheelchair and disabled access is available to top floor of house only.
COST : Gold coin donation appreciated - FULLY BOOKED

James Arthur Prescott – A Man of Dignity, Diversity and Discovery
Public Lecture Yvonne Routledge will give a free public talk on the life of James Arthur Prescott, second Director of the Waite Agricultural Research Institute and regarded by many as the "father" of soil science research in Australia.
Refreshments provided prior to lecture.

Afternoon Tea and Interactive Tour,
Afternoon Tea with Mr and Mrs Waite in 1892 Join this interactive tour as guests of Peter and Matilda Waite at their beautiful bluestone mansion, Urrbrae House, before adjourning for afternoon tea in the Dining Room. Learn about the Waite family and the life of the household while viewing one of the most significant houses built in South Australia.Refreshments Included. Not suitable for children under seven. Due to the heritage nature of the house, attendees must be able to manage stairs for this event.
COST : $10 per adult; $7 per child - FULLY BOOKEDPlease note: This event will be held again in September, with details to be announced later in the year.

This free event is a great opportunity to visit Urrbrae House on the 20th anniversary of the Friends of Urrbrae House, and hear guest speaker, Valmai Hankel. Renowned wine writer, horse breeder and President of the Friends of the State Library, Valmai is also an intrepid outback traveller.
